Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey says working with Lewis Hamilton would have been fabulous, but it never happened”.
There’s no bigger legend in the Formula 1 paddock when it comes to designing single-seaters, than Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey.
The Briton has won multiple championships with teams like Williams, McLaren and Red Bull, and is once again on top of Formula 1 with his dominant RB19.
Newey however never worked with probably F1’s most legendary team – Ferrari. Well, during his recent appearance on F1’s Beyond the Grid podcast, Newey revealed Ferrari had offered him a position on several occasions and he turned them down.
Asked by host Tom Clarkson if he had any regrets about that, Newey said he does, but added he also regrets not being able to work with Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.

“Emotionally, I guess, to a point, yes,” the Briton said.
“But just as, for instance, working with Fernando and Lewis would have been fabulous, but it never happened.
“It’s just circumstance sometimes, that’s the way it is,” Newey concluded.
The interesting thing is that Newey was at McLaren until the end of 2005, just a little over a year before Lewis joined the team.
