Red Bull’s Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey talks about several incidents between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, and says Max “shouldn’t have brake-tested” Lewis at the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
In a talk with The Race, Red Bull’s Adrian Newey praised Max Verstappen, but he also pointed out a few situations where the Dutch driver wasn’t exactly fair while battling Lewis Hamilton.
More specifically, Newey said Verstappen was “a bit naughty” for running Lewis off the track several times at the 2021 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, and added he “shouldn’t have brake-tested him” at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
“Probably what [Verstappen] did in Brazil last year was a bit naughty,” Newey said.

“Saudi was silly, but I think he got frustrated with Lewis not overtaking him. But, he still shouldn’t have brake-tested him.”
However, Newey believes the contact between the two drivers at the 2021 British Grand Prix, was Hamilton’s fault.
“Silverstone to me was a clear professional foul [by Hamilton] and people seem to have a short memory.
“They brand an individual and it takes time for that to go,” the Briton concluded.
