Mercedes’ simulator driver Anthony Davidson says it’s a “good thing” that Lewis Hamilton and George Russell “have quite similar demand from the way the car feels”.

Mercedes has had a lot of issues with their car in 2022 and 2023. In fact, the team is still trying to come to grips with it, and their drivers are often highlighting various ways in which they believe it should be improved.

Mercedes’ simulator driver Anthony Davidson says the good thing is that both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell have very similar demands.

“The good thing is that both drivers have quite similar demand from the way the car feels,” Davidson said on the Sky Spots’ F1 podcast.

“We’re hearing that the Ferrari drivers, for example, [Carlos] Sainz and [Charles] Leclerc, their styles are quite different apparently, and that makes it very difficult for the team to know which direction really to go in, in terms of aero shaping as they call it, or mechanical design from the car. It really does compromise things.

“So I think part of the luxury Mercedes have is that both drivers are singing the same song here in terms of where to take the car,” the Briton concluded.
