Former F1 driver Rubens Barrichello was asked to “build” his perfect Formula 1 driver. While answering, the Brazilian gave enormous praise to Lewis Hamilton.
Barrichello had the opportunity to witness seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher’s skills in person, while he was partnering the German at Ferrari from 2000 until 2005. He was also a good friend of his counryman, three-time F1 champion Ayrton Senna, so he was privileged to observe and learn from two of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history.
However, Barrichello says Hamilton “possibly” has more talented than both legends.
“Hamilton has a talent that is possibly even greater than Ayrton’s and Schumacher’s,” said the Brazilian.
“The only thing he lacked was maturity. He’s been progressing and today you see the end product.”
“Listening to the team radio at the Brazil Grand Prix, he is incredibly calm, passing on information, saying what he needs and doesn’t need.”
Ultimately the Brazilian gave his opinion on what would make the “perfect” Formula 1 driver.
“The perfect driver would have Ayrton’s skill, Schumacher’s courage and Hamilton’s coordination.
“It would be a show to watch!”
