Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton have been team-mates since the Finn joined Mercedes in 2017. Bottas talks about how they function together.

After a tumultuous relationship between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg that lasted from 2013 until 2016, Valtteri Bottas’ arrival to Mercedes seemed to bring more harmony to the team.

Lewis Hamilton has always emphasized the respect and fair play attitude that exists between him and Valtteri and now the Finn gives his comments on the relationship.

“It works between us,” Bottas told Natalie Pinkham in a Sky Sports F1 interview.

“I don’t play political games. I like driving, I like racing; honest, but hard racing. That’s how I do it, how I did it and how I will always do it. I like to do ‘the talking’ on the track.

“Frankly, I have learned so much about teamwork in this sport. You learn that working together is always the best thing you can do, no matter what.

“If there had been problems between me and Lewis from the first year, we wouldn’t be in the current situation where we are such a strong performing team.

“We must continue to work together to keep this team at the top,” concluded the Finn.
