Toto Wolff says the duel between Hamilton and Bottas at the start of the Eifel Grand Prix reminded him of battles between Hamilton and Rosberg.
Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas almost had a close encounter of the worst kind at the start of the Eifel Grand Prix. Bottas started from pole, but a very good start by Hamilton seemed to guarantee the Briton would take the lead.
Bottas was forced wide by Hamilton, but the Finn ultimately managed to regain the lead with an aggressive move. While being interviewed by Nico Rosberg, Toto Wolff said the clash reminded him of the time when Nico and Lewis battled at the 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix.
“That corner really reminded me of you and Lewis in Bahrain,” Wolff said.
“It was great. They raced each other hard but they know where the boundaries are and Valtteri, true rally style, kept his foot on the throttle and held the position.
“Lewis was in full lock, so he braked late and understeered, that’s why he ended up pushing Valtteri wide.”

The Austrian admitted he was never worried about the duo colliding and enjoyed the battle.
“I enjoyed the racing between the two of them because I’ve never doubted that there will be any contact.
“These guys respect each other, they know very well what the boundaries within this team are.”
