Red Bull has announced that discussions with the FIA regarding their cost cap breach have been “put on hold until further notice” due to the death of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz.

Red Bull has been engaged in talks with the FIA over their cost cap breach since it was announced on October 10, however these have now been put on hold due to the death of Red Bull co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz.

Mateschitz’s passing was announced yesterday, and today Red Bull came out with a statement saying that the cost cap discussions have been put on hold.

“Following the passing of Mr Mateschitz, all conversations with the FIA around Cost Cap and next steps are on hold until further notice,” the team’s statement read.

“The deadline for agreement has been extended and we expect talks to pick back up middle of the week.”

It remains to be seen whether Red Bull will ultimately agree to enter into an ‘Accepted Breach Agreement’, proposed by the FIA, or if they will choose to challenge the governing organization in court.
