After the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner called Lewis Hamilton “an eight-time World Champion” and then awkwardly corrected himself.

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was surely exhausting for Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, so in the post-race interviews he made a small mistake, or perhaps it was a Freudian slip.

When he was asked to comment on Lewis Hamilton’s difficult weekend, he said the Briton was an eight-time World Champion.

“Obviously he had a horrible weekend but he’s still an eight-time World Champion so,” Horner said.

When he was reminded by the media that Lewis was in fact still a seven-time champion, Horner awkwardly tried to correct himself.

“Seven! I forgot Nico Rosberg won one,” he said.

This is not the first time that Horner slipped and added a title win to Lewis’ tally, and considering last year would have been a win for Hamilton had the rules been followed, he is not too far off the mark.

“He hasn’t forgotten how to drive in the last four races,” Horner continued.

“At some point they’ll sort their issues out and he’ll become a factor, I’ve got no doubt.”

However, the Briton ultimately said he is not spending time thinking about Mercedes’ issues.

“I don’t spend my time worrying about Mercedes’ problems. We’ve got enough issues of our own to be focused on.

“So that’s what I tend to focus on,” Horner concluded.
