Red Bull team boss Christian Horner says Ferrari’s Mattia Binotto is “a nice guy”, and “just a different kind of competition”, but warns not to ‘write off’ Toto Wolff.
It’s no secret that Christian Horner and Toto Wolff are not the best of friends in the paddock. The war of words between the two during their 2021 championship fight has turned ugly on several occasions, so Horner was asked if he expect the same thing to occur in Red Bull’s current fight with Ferrari.
Red Bull’s team boss took this opportunity to take a slight dig at Wolff.
“Well, Mattia’s a nice guy, it’s just a different kind of competition,” Horner said.
“But you’re writing Toto off, we’re only four races in and his car was quickest [in Miami Grand Prix FP2].
“So there’s plenty of time for him to get himself back in the show.”

Horner went on to say he expects Mercedes to make a comeback before the season is finished.
“If that [battle with Ferrari] continues through the season, inevitably it’s going to boil over at some point as it gets more competitive, and the stakes get higher in the second half of the year.
“But, certainly, what we’ve seen so far has been very respectful racing. Hard racing, but fair racing.
“And, as I said, I think you’re going to see Mercedes joining that party fairly soon,” the Briton concluded.
