Could Lewis Hamilton face British GP ban over jewellery?

The grace period for wearing jewellery in a Formula 1 car expires on Thursday. Will there be any consequences if Lewis Hamilton continues to wear it?

Ahead of the 2022 Miami Grand Prix, the FIA has announced it will start enforcing the jewellery ban which forbids drivers to wear any jewellery while in the cockpit.

Lewis Hamilton was one of the drivers who were very much opposed to the ban, and he said he would have trouble taking some of his piercings out, as it’s been welded in.

The FIA then said it would allow drivers until June 30 to have their jewellery removed, and that grace period ends ahead of the British Grand Prix.

Lewis has been seen around Silverstone wearing his piercings and other jewellery, so it’s as of yet unknown if he will remove it ahead of Friday’s free practice sessions.

The FIA has said that those who don’t comply with the ban could be penalized, but what that penalty would be is not yet known.

The penalty could be a simple fine, or a more severe race ban. It remains to be seen if Lewis will comply, or if the FIA will back off with their demands, that many feel are unreasonable.
