The CEO of Daimler Ola Kallenius hints Mercedes intends to keep Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas as their drivers beyond 2020.

Both Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas’ contracts with Mercedes run out at the end of 2020. With rumours that Daimler might consider hiring Sebastian Vettel for 2021, in a marketing dream move of having a German racer in a German car, there is much speculation about what Mercedes will do next.

However Daimler CEO Ola Kallenius now hints the German company is not looking to replace its current driver line-up.

“We’re staying with our two boys,” Kallenius said to Sky Deutschland.

“I can understand that this is a very exciting thought for the German fans.

“But with Lewis and Valtteri we already have two top drivers who perform at the highest level. We saw it yesterday with Valtteri taking pole with a fantastic lap.

“We stand by the two drivers that we have now.”
