Amid rumours that Mercedes could leave Formula 1 after 2020, Daimler’s Chairman of the Board Ola Kallenius says this is not the case.
Recently there have been persistent rumours that Mercedes could be on its way out of the sport after 2020. The cited reason was Daimler’s determination to cut costs. Daimler’s Ola Kallenius already denied that Mercedes was considering such an option and now he goes even further and says Fornula 1 is very profitable for the company.
“We won the world championship six times in a row,” said Kallenius.
“This is a unique achievement, and in terms of marketing, it more than pays for the costs.
“So it is a very profitable investment.”
