Former IndyCar and NASCAR driver Danica Patrick says Lewis Hamilton has been “in an incredible mood” at the Canadian Grand Prix, and he is now “feeling it”.

After Lewis Hamilton’s amazing P3 at the Canadian Grand Prix, Sky Sports F1 pundit Danica Patrick said she thought Lewis was boosted by his best qualifying performance of 2022.

Lewis managed to qualify in P4, while his team-mate George Russell qualified in P8 due to a failed tyre gamble. Patrick thinks losing out to Hamilton hasn’t hurt the young Briton.

“I don’t think it took anything away from Russell, but it clearly boosted Lewis,” Patrick said.

“He has been in an incredible mood since qualifying, saying words like beautiful. He’s feeling it.

“That move didn’t hurt George but played into his attitude and it showed out there,” the American concluded.

Her colleague Jenson Button emphasized how important Lewis’ result was for his confidence going forward.

“This is an important race for him,” Button said.

“It’s also Lewis’ track. He is unbelievably quick here. If he wasn’t going to get a good result here, he wasn’t going to get it anywhere.

“This will fill him full of confidence, he found the car that worked for him.  He wasn’t too far off the leaders,” the Briton concluded.
