Felipe Massa says Toto Wolff’s comments show “that we are on the right path and that people in F1 are realising the seriousness and importance of our case”.
While commenting on Felipe Massa’s upcoming legal case aiming to change the results of the 2008 championship, Toto Wolff said Mercedes is watching the case “with interest”, because it “will certainly set a precedent” that could affect the 2021 championship, where Lewis Hamilton lost the title battle to Max Verstappen under controversial circumstances.
He later said that he doesn’t think Massa “has a case, to be honest”, and added that reopening each controversial situation from the past could put Formula 1 into “disarray”.
When Massa was faced with Wolff’s comments, and similar comments made by figures from other teams, he said it only proves that he is “on the right path”.

“I think this just shows that we are on the right path and that people in F1 are realising the seriousness and importance of our case,” the Brazilian said.
“As I’ve always said, I’m seeking justice, my childhood dream, a title for an entire nation, for Brazilians. And for the tifosi too.
“This is entirely my and my family’s fight, so we did everything we could to have the best professionals in the world on our side.
“I hope today’s FIA and FOM are different [than they were in 2008]. The two entities have the chance to prove this, repairing the mistakes of the past, for the good of the sport,” Massa concluded.
