Felipe Massa strongly praises Lewis Hamilton, the man who beat him for the Formula 1 championship in the last corner of the last lap of the 2008 season.
When he crossed the finish line at the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix, Ferrari’s Felipe Massa thought he had won his first Formula 1 championship.
Unfortunately for him, Lewis Hamilton managed to get to a position that he need to win the title himself, by overtaking Timo Glock in the last corner of the race.
Massa never again came close to winning the championship, but despite this he only has words of praise for the seven-time champion.
“The work that Hamilton has been doing for such a long time is impressive,” the Brazilian told Brazilian Motorsport.com.

“Hamilton could have been world champion in 2007.”
In 2007, Hamilton’s rookie season, he lost the championship to Kimi Raikkonen by a single point. Many point to the Briton slipping into the gravel bed at the pit entrance in the penultimate race of the season in China, as the moment that cost him the title.
Massa says it’s “normal” for a rookie driver to make such a mistake.
“But he has always shown that he is a different driver. He is perhaps the perfect driver.
“His level of driving, and the qualities he has, show that,” concluded Massa.
