Moments after Mercedes announced Lewis Hamilton’s departure, Ferrari announced his arrival “on a multi-year contract”.
After a whole day of speculation, Lewis Hamilton’s departure from Mercedes at the end of 2024, and arrival to Ferrari in 2025 is now official.
Although Lewis signed a contract extension with Mercedes last year, which was supposed to last until the end of 2025, the team has now explained that Lewis “activated a release option in the contract announced last August and this season will therefore be his last driving for the Silver Arrows”.

Immediately following Mercedes made their announcement, Ferrari announced Lewis is joining the Italian team on a “multi-year contract”.
“Scuderia Ferrari is pleased to announce that Lewis Hamilton will be joining the team in 2025, on a multi-year contract,” read the statement.
Ferrari did not include any comments from Lewis or team boss Frederic Vasseur.
