Ferrari’s Chief Executive Officer Louis Camilleri says Ferrari president’s meeting with Lewis Hamilton was “a social event”.
The news of Lewis Hamilton meeting with Ferrari’s president John Elkann sent the F1 media into a frenzy. Since then rumors of Hamilton’s possible move to Ferrari in 2021 have been all over the place. Ferrari’s CEO clears up the story saying the meeting was “blown out of proportion”.
“Obviously, it was a social event, which has sort of been blown somewhat out of proportion, but it was a social event,” said Camilleri.
“They have some common friends.
“The fact is we have a long-term agreement with one driver and with the other driver the agreement expires at the end of 2020,” explained the American.
“We clearly are very flattered that Lewis in particular, and other drivers want to come and join us, but it would be premature to decide anything today.
“It would be premature to decide anything now for the future.”
