George Russell says there’s “more to come” from him in the 2022 season, as he announces that he still wants “to fight for this championship”.

Despite Mercedes’ current troubles, George Russell managed to finish every race of the 2022 season in the top five.

The Briton currently sits in P4 in the Drivers’ Championship standings, with 41 points less than current championship leader Max Verstappen.

Considering that there are 15 races left in the season, he can still be a strong title contender, if Mercedes manages to solve its issues and joins the fight at the top.

This fact is not lost on the young Briton.

“You are constantly striving for more when you understand the car and tyres more, and I want to fight for this championship,” Russell said.

“And when we’ve got to go against the likes of Max [Verstappen] at Red Bull and obviously Charles [Leclerc] is doing an extra extremely good job at the moment with Ferrari.

“But as a team, we just need to keep on pushing, I need to keep on pushing personally.

“So, more to come,” he concluded.
