George Russell says Lewis Hamilton is “the greatest of all time”, they’re “in very different stages” of their career, and they “need to work together”.

On the F1 Nation podcast George Russell talked about what he expects from his relationship with his 2022 team-mate Lewis Hamilton.

“I think there’s a lot of respect between Lewis and I,” the Briton said.

“I think we’re in very different stages of our career. Lewis is the guy he is for a reason – he’s the greatest of all time.

“I think we go in there, we need to help each other because the cars are just going to be developing so much, race after race.

“It’s not who has the quickest car at race one, it’s who has the quickest car throughout the whole season.

“And, as drivers, we need to work together with the team to move us forward as one, and that’s going to be the key.”

Russell’s former boss, Williams team principal Jost Capito, recently highlighted George’s drive to make the team the best it can be.

“If he wants to get something done on the car, he really pushes [for it], and if he wants to get something done in the team he is pushing but always in a very positive way,” Capito said.

“I never heard a bad word from him all year, still being very direct in what he wants and what he expects.

“I think that is a fantastic attitude of George,” concluded the German.
