George Russell has expressed his support for team-mate Lewis Hamilton, after Nelson Piquet used a racial slur while talking about him.

After an audio clip of three-time Formula 1 champion Nelson Piquet using a racial slur when referring to Lewis Hamilton came to light, many F1 drivers, teams and journalists decided to publicly express their support for the Briton.

One of those drivers is Lewis’ Mercedes team-mate, George Russell.

“Huge respect to [Lewis Hamilton],” Russell wrote on his social media channels.

“He has done more for the sport than any driver in history, not just on track but off it.

“The fact that he and so many others are STILL having to deal with this behaviour is unacceptable.

“We all need to stand together against discrimination of any kind,” the Briton concluded.
