George Russell is among six drivers who have been summoned to the stewards after the Austrian Grand Prix Sprint Qualifying.

George Russell, Sergio Perez, Esteban Ocon, Mick Schumacher, Daniel Ricciardo, Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel have been summoned to the stewards for allegedly taking instructions from their teams during the second formation lap of the Austrian Grand Prix Spring Qualifying.

The original start of the race got aborted due to Zhou Guanyu stopping at the exit of the final corner at the end of the formation lap, which led to another formation lap being required.

Allegedly during this formation lap several drivers were talking to their teams over the radio, even though this is forbidden.

However, apparently some confusion has arisen within the teams due to the second formation lap essentially counting as lap 1 of the race.

It remain to be seen if any penalties will come of this.

UPDATE: All drivers have been cleared of any wrongdoing, the stewards concluded that: “the messages that were under investigation were permitted”.
