Day 2 of Mercedes’ Silverstone test is behind us. This time Lewis Hamilton made his return to the track in Mercedes’ 2018 car – the W09.
The private test marks the first time the six-time champion took to the track since pre-season testing back in February. For this occassion Hamilton got behind the wheel of his 2018 championship-winning car, the Mercedes W09, as the rules prevent use of newer machinery outside of designated Formula 1 tests.
Mercedes continued where they left off yesterday, with further tests aimed at getting acquainted with new coronavirus prevention procedures and to allow their drivers to get re-acquainted with extreme g-forces, before the 2020 season starts.
Here’s how Mercedes’ Trackside Engineering Director Andrew Shovlin explains the past two days.
