Lewis Hamilton comments on Charles Leclerc’s unfortunate French Grand Prix crash, and gives advice to Ferrari on how to proceed in the championship.

Charles Leclerc crashed out at the French Grand Prix while leading the race, in what was admittedly his own mistake.

Max Verstappen ultimately won the race and is now leading second-placed Leclerc by 63 points. Afterwards Hamilton was asked to give his thoughts on the title picture.

“It’s been great to see the pace of the Ferrari this year,” the Briton said.

“I’m gutted for Charles, who’s being doing a great job, as has Carlos [Sainz]. It’s not easy though, having that pace and that performance and maintaining it.

“It’s a tough job and I feel for the whole team because I know what that can feel like. But they’re a great team, and they’ll continue to keep their heads down.”

Lewis then gave his advice to Ferrari on how to proceed in the championship.

“Yeah, massive gaps, obviously pretty huge so that’s pretty smooth sailing in that space generally, but a lot still can go wrong up ahead.

“So I would just advise them just to continue to push,” Hamilton concluded.
