Lewis Hamilton says it’s “just great for the team to be on the first two rows” for the Qatar Grand Prix, but he ultimately had “a pretty average” qualifying session.

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will be starting the Qatar Grand Prix from P2 and P3, respectively.

Although that’s a great result, it was achieved only after Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, who originally qualified in P2 and P4, got demoted due to track limits violations.

After the session, Lewis said he was not completely satisfied with his performance.

“Not massively satisfied, it’s just great for the team to be on the first two rows,” the Briton said.

“Difficult at the beginning of the session, tricky conditions out there with the wind.

“Ultimately, a pretty average session for me. I’m going to give it everything and try and bag those points.

“It’s great we are ahead of the Ferraris which is key,” Hamilton concluded.
