Lewis Hamilton says he respects Max Verstappen and adds talks of problems between them are just “fairy tales”.

After the closely fought 2021 season, which saw Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen clash on the track on numerous occasions, the media often portrayed their relationship as strained.

However, in an interview with the Dutch Formula One magazine, Lewis said as far as he is concerned, there are no problems between them.

“People like to talk about there being problems between Max and me,” Hamilton said and then called those talks “fairytales”.

“I respect him,” he added.

He then said there are no bad feelings on his side, regarding everything that happened in 2021.

“[Verstappen] did everything he had to do in 2021,” Lewis added.

“So why should I have a problem with him? He performed and delivered every weekend, nobody can take that away from him.”

However, the Briton also added he cannot speak for Verstappen when it comes to their relationship.

“He is a lot younger, so maybe he has a problem with me. But I am not sure about that and I actually assume not.

“Although I can’t speak for him,” Hamilton concluded.
