Although Lewis Hamilton scored another pole position at the Tuscan Grand Prix, he thinks Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will be a big challenge in the race.
Mercedes again locked out the front row at the Tuscan Grand Prix Qualifying, but Red Bull has been hot on their heels the whole weekend, with a relatively small gap.
For Hamilton, the Mugello Circuit has not been the easiest one to master, with his team-mate Valtteri Bottas besting him in every practice session, before the Briton managed to snatch pole in qualifying.
“To be honest it has been a difficult weekend,” Hamilton said.
“Trying to learn a new circuit was more difficult than usual. It was all about trust and not making mistakes during the free practice sessions.

“In the end, it worked. I kept working on it. I think if we had done another session, I could have gone even faster.
“But I was up to speed in Q2 and Q3 at just the right time. So it was an exciting qualifying session.
“You can see how exciting it is in qualifying. We always have a gap to Verstappen in qualifying, but they make up for around half a second during the race.
“Given the gap, it will be difficult to keep him behind us tomorrow,” concluded the six-time champion.
