Former Mercedes motorsport boss Norbert Haug says Mick Schumacher will “seize this learning and training opportunity with the very best”.

Mick Schumacher will serve as Mercedes’ reserve driver in the 2023 season, and this will provide him with an opportunity to learn from a world championship winning team, and one of the greatest drivers of all time – Lewis Hamilton.

Former Mercedes motorsport boss Norbert Haug says this is a “real stroke of luck” for the young German.

“In my opinion, this is indeed a real stroke of luck for Mick, and Mercedes did well to sign a German driver into its Formula 1 team,” Haug said.

“Nothing is impossible if Mick concentrates, diligently, and is willing to learn from the tasks assigned to him, and that’s exactly what I assume [he will do].

“He will seize this learning and training opportunity with the very best and make the most of it. If everything works out as the parties involved imagine, then everything is possible for Mick.

“But first of all: head down, talk little and work all the more and all the harder, and learn a lot in the process,” the German concluded.
