Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher says “it’s a bit premature to start thinking about whether Max Verstappen can challenge Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher’s records”.

With Max Verstappen dominating the 2022 Formula 1 season, some of his fans have already stated talking about the Dutch driver surpassing records held by Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher.

However, with both drivers holding seven world titles, and 103 and 91 victories respectively, there’s a long way to go for Verstappen before he gets close to their accomplishments.

This is something Michael Schumacher’s brother Ralf also believes.

“[Verstappen is] only 25 years old,” the German said.

“But I still think it’s a bit premature to start thinking about whether he can challenge Lewis Hamilton and Michael’s records.

“I don’t think Verstappen is looking to do that yet either. That’s still a long way off. In terms of driving ability, of course he can definitely do it, there’s no doubt about that.

“But we also know in Formula 1 it also depends on factors the driver can’t always influence,” Schumacher concluded.
