Max Verstappen’s father Jos gives his comments on a rare opportunity his son had to lap his Lewis Hamilton at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The terrible pace Mercedes had at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, combined with Lewis Hamilton unfortunatley getting stuck in a DRS train at the bottom of the grid, allowed Max Verstappen to lap his 2021 title rival.

After the race Max gave his opinion on the situation, but chose not to make a big deal out of it.

“They have been slow all year so it is not really a surprise or [I don’t feel] happy lapping Lewis compared to anyone else,” the Dutch driver said.

“It is what it is,” Max concluded.

Max’s father Jos, however, didn’t hide how much he loved seeing his son lap Lewis.

“Honestly, I did enjoy seeing Max lap Hamilton, after everything that happened last year.

“Hamilton really had a tough time, whereas his teammate George Russell seemed to be more balanced.

“It’s not often you have the opportunity to lap a Mercedes,” concluded the elder Verstappen.
