Sky Sports F1’s Ted Kravitz says “Mercedes will make sure nothing gets in the way of Lewis going for the championship if he is way ahead”.
While answering fan questions following the end of the Barcelona test, Ted Kravitz gave his view on the dynamic between George Russell and Lewis Hamilton in 2022.
“He will push Hamilton, but when he’s told to by the team he will also submit as a second driver,” Kravitz said
“I think the dynamic is absolutely fine.
“Yes, Lewis would have preferred Valtteri Bottas to stay because they had an established relationship with good respect, and Lewis didn’t have to worry about the other driver being quicker than him too often.

“That might not be the case with Russell, but Mercedes will make sure nothing gets in the way of Lewis going for the championship if he is way ahead.”
Asked if he believes Lewis had the best chance to win his eighth title in 2021, Kravitz says he thinks he will also have a “very good chance” in the years ahead.
“No, I think he’s still got a very good chance this year, and the next, and the next. I think he’ll only be more motivated.
“There have already been some great drivers who have tried to stop him winning the first seven, so I don’t think that affects the way he is, or approaches his racing,” the Briton concluded.
