Lewis Hamilton and George Russell get new power units for Barcelona

Lewis Hamilton and George Russell’s cars have been fitted with new power units ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix.

A Technical Delegate’s Report published ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix confirms that Mercedes has fitted their two cars with a new Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), as well as a new Turbocharger, Motor Generator Unit-Heat (MGU-H) and Motor Generator Unit-Kinetic (MGU-K).

In addition the W13 has been fitted with a new Exhaust System. Lewis’ car has also been fitted with a new gearbox.

Because all of these elements are within each driver’s allocated amount there will be no penalties handed out.

There is no further information on why this is being done, but hopefully the new parts will help the team be at least a bit faster this weekend.
