Lewis Hamilton says Monza might have been the worst track for Mercedes this year, and adds “Singapore is all high downforce and, when we put our high downforce wing on, we generally are a little bit better”.

Mercedes’ Italian Grand Prix weekend was far from perfect, but the team did ultimately manage to get P5 and P6, the best they could get under the circumstances.

After the race, Lewis Hamilton said he believes Monza was the worst track for the W14 this year, and added that the car should perform better in Singapore.

“I feel like this [Monza] might be the worst one for us,” the Briton said.

“Singapore is all high downforce and, when we put our high downforce wing on, we generally are a little bit better. Not as bad as here.

“So I hope I’m right,” Hamilton concluded.

Team boss Toto Wolff agreed with Lewis and said the team needs to “maximise” their results at the Singapore Grand Prix.
