Lewis Hamilton cleared of red flag infringement – no penalty!

The FIA has cleared Lewis Hamilton of any wrongdoing, after being investigated for allegedly not slowing down during a red flag in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix FP3.

After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix FP3, Lewis Hamilton was investigated by the stewards for allegedly failing to slow down during a red flag period in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix FP3.

The red flag came out after Pierre Gasly’s AlphaTauri suffered a puncture and debris started falling off. While the flag came out, Hamilton appeared to pass Lando Norris and Kevin Magnussen going into Turn 5.

However, after the investigation was conducted, Lewis Hamilton was cleared of any wrongdoing by the stewards.

The stewards report said that Lewis “took every reasonable action to comply with the regulations”, meaning that he immediately reduced speed at the earliest opportunity upon the first indication of the red light panel.
