At the Sao Paulo Grand Prix Qualifying, Lewis Hamilton only managed to qualify in P8. The Briton explains what went wrong.

Lewis Hamilton qualified for the Sao Paulo Grand Prix Sprint Race in P8. The Briton says his main issue in his final flying lap in Q3 was that when he went back out on the track, he was the last car at the back of the ‘train’.

“I just went out to see what the conditions were like, but obviously it was properly wet. It’s motor racing,” Lewis explained after the session.

“It was difficult to see the conditions, it was difficult to see the rain drops and it was so dark.

“I was the last car out so I think I got the earliest part of the rain. I probably lost too much temperature in the pit lane as well. Just a bit unfortunate.

“George [Russell] did a great job and congratulations to Kevin [Magnussen],” the Briton concluded.
