After it was announced that James Vowles will leave Mercedes to become the new team principal of Williams, Lewis Hamilton took to social media to give his first reaction.
Mercedes’ long-time Motorsport Strategy Director James Vowles will leave Mercedes ahead of the 2023 season and become the new team principal of Williams.
Lewis Hamilton, who has worked closely with Vowles since he joined Mercedes back in 2013, took to social media to wish James all the best in his new role.
“Thanks for everything, James, wishing you well in your new role,” the Briton wrote.

“I am so proud and grateful to have worked with James for the past 10 years.
“Together we have won over 80 races and 15 titles. This is such a great move and I couldn’t be happier for him.
“We all need change in order to progress and I’m confident that he’ll push Williams forward to being more competitive. There is nobody more deserving of this role.
“Wishing you the best brother,” Hamilton concluded.
