After almost getting his first win of the season, Lewis Hamilton says he’s “shattered”, but adds the team will “try to give everything we can in these next three”.
At the United States Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton got very close to getting his first win of the 2022 season, but it was not to be, as he was ultimately no match for the raw speed of Max Verstappen’s Red Bull.
After the race Lewis said he was happy with Mercedes’ performance, but also disappointed he was not able to keep P1 until the end.
“A big shout out to my team,” Hamilton said.
“We came here with upgrades, we closed the gap a little bit. It was so, so close, I did everything I could to stay ahead but they were just a little bit too quick today.

“I am shattered. The car was a handful today. It felt amazing to be in the lead, that’s is something that we have been working so hard on as a team throughout the year and I felt so much hope.
“But it’s ok. We will hold onto that, we will keep pushing, we will try to give everything we can in these next three [races]. It will come to us at some stage. “
In the end Lewis praised Red Bull’s performance in the race and gave his condolences to the team for the loss of their parent company’s co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz.
“Great strategy, great race by Red Bull and again, my condolences to the team,” the Briton concluded.
