After a period of silence, Lewis Hamilton checks in with his fans for the first time since signing his new Mercedes contract for 2021.

This week Mercedes announced that Lewis Hamilton has signed a new one-year deal with the team. Of course, the media immediately started speculating why the deal is only for 2021. Toto Wolff gave his explanation, then Lewis’ father talked about it, and now for the first time we hear from Lewis himself.

“Hey guys, sorry I’ve been absent from here for a while, I’ve been focusing and preparing for the season ahead,” Lewis wrote on social media.

“I consider myself lucky to have had this time to reflect and prepare.

“I remain positive and excited for the season ahead, but want you all to know that I’m thinking of you out there, hoping you are well. I miss so many of you and can’t wait to hopefully see you again soon if not in person, then online.

“But one thing is for sure I’ll be racing my heart out for you this year!” concluded the seven-time champion.
