Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he is in the process of adding his mother’s maiden name Larbalestier to his surname.
At the 2022 Dubai Expo Lewis Hamilton participated in a Q&A session organized by Mercedes’ title sponsor Petronas.
During the session, Lewis was asked what it would mean to him if he were to win his record-breaking eighth Formula 1 title.
“It’s impossible to know what the future holds and what it would feel like,” Lewis said.
“But doing something that no one else has done, of course, would be mindblowing. It would mean the world to my family. “
Lewis then revealed he is in the process of changing his name, so that it also features his mother’s maiden name.

“None of you might know that my mum’s name is Larbalestier and I am just about to put that in my name.
“I don’t fully understand the whole idea that when people get married the woman loses their name. And my mum, I really want her name to continue on with the Hamilton name.”
The Briton was then asked if we can expect to see the name change at this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix.
“Hopefully soon,” he answered.
“Not this weekend, but we are working on it,” the Briton concluded.
