Although Lewis Hamilton is usually heavily booed on race tracks with a large number of Max Verstappen fans, he says he likes it when “fans bring a lot of energy and atmosphere”.

In 2021 and 2022, there have been a lot of instances of heavy booing aimed at Lewis Hamilton on race tracks with a large numbers of Max Verstappen supporters, however, at Zandvoort Lewis said he enjoys the atmosphere.

“I’ve always liked being here,” the Briton told Algemeen Dabglad newspaper.

“I was in Amsterdam on Wednesday evening where you can get such great food and with all those canals I think it’s such a cool city. I could live there!

“I actually really like it when fans bring a lot of energy and atmosphere. This is Max’s home race but that doesn’t make it any less cool for me to see all those fans.

“It must feel to him the way I feel at Silverstone and that’s so special.”

As for the Zandvoort track itself, the Briton says he would like to see more old school circuits like that.

“Why don’t they make more circuits like this?  Those banked bends, a lot of elevation difference, we should have that in more places,” Hamilton concluded.
