Lewis Hamilton has joined the ownership group of NFL team Denver Broncos, and says he’s excited to “become a part of the Broncos story”.
The Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group purchased the Denver Broncos earlier this year in a deal worth an estimated $4.65bn, the largest deal involving a sports team in history.
Now they have announced on social media that Lewis Hamilton has joined the group.
“We’re delighted to welcome Sir Lewis Hamilton to our ownership group,” said Rob Walton.
“He is a champion competitor who knows what it takes to lead a winning team and a fierce advocate for global equality, including in his own sport.
“With over 100 race wins, Lewis is considered the most successful F1 driver of all time.
“His resilient spirit and standard of excellence will be an asset to the ownership group and the Broncos organisation.”
Lewis also took to social media to give his comments on the deal.

“Excited to join an incredible group of owners and become a part of the [Broncos] story,” the Briton wrote.
“Honoured to work with a world class team and serve as an example of the value of more diverse leadership across all sports.”
Along with his message, he posted a photo of his dog Roscoe in Denver Broncos gear and wrote: “Roscoe already thinks he made the team”.
The Briton was also welcomed by Broncos off-season star signing quarterback – Russell Wilson.
“Congrats [Lewis Hamilton]. Winning is a habit! #LetsRide,” wrote Wilson.
Lewis owns a property in Aspen Colorado, 150 miles from Denver, where he spends time during the winter Formula 1 break.
