Lewis Hamilton has named the favourite Formula 1 car that he has ever driven, and surprisingly it’s not a Mercedes!

During Mercedes’ recent fan Q&A video, Lewis Hamilton was asked to name the favourite Formula 1 car that he’s ever been able to drive, and his response was somewhat of a surprise.

Lewis said it was Ayrton Senna’s 1988 McLaren MP4/4, the car that is considered to be one of the best Formula 1 cars of all time.

”Probably my favourite one was driving Ayrton Senna’s MP4/4,” the Briton said.

The Honda-powered McLaren, designed by American engineer Steve Nichols, completely dominated the 1988 season, and allowed Senna and his team-mate Alain Prost to win 15 out of 16 races.

It was also the car that propelled Senna to his first Formula 1 world championship.

Lewis was able to drive the legendary car during his 2009 appearance on an episode of British TV programme Top Gear.

Considering how the legendary Brazilian has been Lewis’ F1 idol since he was a child, the choice really is not as surprising as it might appear at first glance.
