Lewis Hamilton has been announced as one of the six nominees for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2020 award.
The Briton received the nomination after winning his seventh Formula 1 world title and equalling Michael Schumacher’s record. In 2020 Hamilton also surpassed Schumacher’s most pole positions and most career wins record, and became the most successful Formula 1 driver in history.
He has previously won the award in 2014 and finished in the top three a record five times.

The other nominees are world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury, world snooker champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, English cricket player Stuart Broad, Liverpool FC captain Jordan Henderson and jockey Hollie Doyle.
The Award Ceremony will take place on December 20th and will be broadcast live on BBC One.
