After a few weeks of being away from his phone “and the world in general”, Lewis Hamilton says he is really upset about the situation in Afghanistan.

Over the past week, after the US withdrew its forces from Afghanistan, the Taliban have regained power. This has led to serious human rights concerns from the international community.

After being away from social media during the summer break, Lewis Hamilton has now returned with messages regarding the situation.

“Good morning World,” wrote the Briton.

“I hope you are well and staying positive. I’ve been staying off of my phone and social media the past weeks to try and break the cycle and reenergise.

“I’ve also not been plugging into the world so I’m catching up on some of the devastating things that are happening around the world.

“I am late to this, but I wanted to share a few resources if anyone wants to learn and support those who need it in Afghanistan.”

In a later post, Lewis talked a bit more about how hard the whole situation has hit him.

“I am devastated by what is happening in the world. I’ve been away from my phone and the world in general for a few days to regenerate, I’m really upset.

“I know I’m late, but I’d like to share with you some opportunities to support those who are suffering and need help right now,” concluded Lewis.

In his Instagram stories Lewis then shared links to the Malala Fund, Women for Women and the International Rescue Committee for those who wish to help.
