Lewis Hamilton comments on his 2022 title chances and says there’s still time “to turn this around” and to “fix this car and extract the full potential”.

Lewis Hamilton currently sits at P5 in the 2022 championship standings, 43 points behind leader Charles Leclerc.

Ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Lewis was asked what he believes his chances are to win the title this year.

I mean, I’m not a mathematician so I don’t really know what the percentage chances are,” Hamilton said.

“But it’s definitely tough. It’s a tall order, that’s for sure.”

The biggest obstacle Lewis has to overcome is Mercedes problematic car. The Briton says there’s still time to fix the issues and get back in the fight.

“There’s a long, long way to go,” he explained.

“You’ve seen in the previous year you’ve seen how much happens in in a season. Still so many races to go. There’s still time for us to turn this around.

“There’s still time for us to fix this car and extract the full potential and that’s what I know that all the team are working flat out to try to achieve.

As for his expectations for this weekend, Lewis said:

“I’m hoping that we… Every time I get in the car I’m hoping that it’s going to be feel better. Ultimately, it’s fundamentally is still the same car.

“I know that everyone at factory has been working very hard over Easter to try and bring even the smallest bits of improvement to the car.

“So we don’t have any anything that’s groundbreaking, that’s going to change our result, but we hope that we do move slightly forward this weekend,” concluded the Briton.
