Lewis Hamilton says he’s not leaving Mercedes because he is “unhappy” or because of “relationship issues” and adds the team has been with him “through thick and thin”.
Lewis Hamilton will leave Mercedes at the end of 2024, after 12 years with the team, to join Ferrari in 2025.
In an interview with CBS Sports, Lewis said the journey he has been on since making the decision to leave, has not been an easy one.
“For me, this whole journey has been massively emotional,” the Briton said.
“Just because I have so much love for this team. I’m not leaving because I’m unhappy there. I’m not leaving because of relationship issues.
“They’ve been with me through thick and thin. So, it’s definitely a strange transition at the moment.”

Mercedes, unfortunately, has been in a very difficult period since 2022, when it comes to performance.
Lewis explains how he keeps himself motivated even when times are tough.
“We exist to win. And when you’re not winning, your perspective has to shift. And it’s just then about chasing and it’s about improvement.
“It’s about coming together. How can we make improvements? How can we get back to where we want to be? And rallying everyone up.
“I actually really enjoy that experience,” Hamilton concluded.
