Despite the Australian Grand Prix cancellation due to the coronavirus scare, Lewis Hamilton remained in Australia to do some rock climbing.
It was reported on several news outlets that Formula 1 teams are undergoing a 2 week quarantine period after a McLaren team member tested positive for the coronavirus. This however doesn’t appear to impact those who were not in close contact with the infected team member, so Lewis Hamilton remained in Australia even after the Mercedes team left.
With qualifying being cancelled, Lewis used his newfound free time to go rock climbing with his physiotherapist and confidant Angela Cullen, who happens to be Australian.
“Gutted to not be qualifying today,” wrote Hamilton on social media.
“I decided to stick around Melbourne and go indoor rock climbing. It’s a great way for me to keep focused.
“I just wanted to say thanks to all of you who have been sending me such positive messages.
“Hope you are all staying safe.”
