Ahead of the summer break Lewis Hamilton revealed what he believes has been the “biggest step” Mercedes made in the first half of the season.
Mercedes entered the 2023 season largely plagued by the same issues they faced in 2022. However, the big upgrade introduced in Monaco marked a change in the team’s development direction.
Lewis Hamilton says it was the “biggest step” the team made in 2023.
“I’ve been incredibly proud of everybody,” the Briton said.

“Everyone’s been working insanely hard, been making big steps. I think the biggest step we took was when we got to Monaco, and the car has really progressed a lot since then.
“We have a better understanding of where to position the car. It’s been a lot more consistent, more podiums and more top-five finishes, which has been great.
“And [the car] generally gets solid, you know, great reliability,” Hamilton concluded.
