Lewis Hamilton says he saw Max Verstappen “come by” in the pit lane in Barcelona, but adds it’s “probably as close as we will get this week”.
The 2022 pre-season testing has started in Barcelona, as did media duties for the drivers. At a drivers’ press conference Lewis Hamilton was asked if he has already met Max Verstappen in the paddock or pit lane.
“I haven’t, I literally just got here today, so…,” he said.
“I didn’t bump into him in the pit lane, but I saw him come by. That’s probably as close as we will get this week.”
Asked how he was feeling ahead of his run in the afternoon testing session, Lewis said he is feeling great.

“I feel the freshest that I ever have. Of course, there are so many different ways you can re-focus and get re-centred, and I would say this [break] was one of the best I’ve ever experienced.
“It was definitely more about being present and in the moment, and creating memories.
“I know sometimes in life, we get so focussed and stuck into certain things like work that we forget to do those things. So it was a great time, just refreshing with the family.
“It was the best period of time I’ve actually ever had with my family,” the Briton concluded.
