Lewis Hamilton says one of the reason why Mercedes is not strong in Monaco is because of the size of their car. However, Toto Wolff wants the race to remain in the F1 calendar.

Lewis Hamilton had a tough time at the Monaco Grand Prix, where he ultimately finished in P7. After the race the Briton explained one of the reasons Mercedes suffers in Monaco is the size of their car.

“Monaco has never generally been a strong track for us,” Lewis said.

“We have the longest car. A longer car is like a bus to turn through the corners so it’s not as nimble as the others on a small track like Monaco, but it is great elsewhere.”

The Briton already said before the race that “Monaco needs to change” because it is not very thrilling for the audience, but Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff thinks the historic track should remain in the Formula 1 calendar.

“I don’t know what you could change here, except to drive against the direction of travel, but that won’t work either” the Austrian told Speedweek.

“Monaco stands for Formula 1. It’s glamorous, exciting and thrilling. It might be one of the circuits where there is less overtaking, but if you ask me if I want to race here, I will say one hundred percent yes.

“It’s one of the most important Grands Prix of the year,” concluded Wolff.
