Lewis Hamilton has been summoned before the stewards after the Mexican Grand Prix FP1 for an alleged track limits breach.

Lewis Hamilton was summoned before the stewards for allegedly not following the race director’s instructions regarding rejoining the track, after he went straight on through the grass at Turn 1, then rejoining the circuit on entry to Turn 3.

The instruction is that “Any driver who leaves the track on the left-hand side between Turns 1 and 2, or who passes to the left of the bollard on the apex of Turn 2, must re-join the track by driving to the left-hand side of the bollard at Turn 3.”

Immediately following the incident Lewis said on the radio that he “couldn’t slow down there”, as other drivers also struggled due to dusty conditions.

The hearing is likely to be held between FP1 and FP2, but a major penalty is unlikely. Lewis will most probably only get a reprimand for not following the race director’s instruction.
